| History - The National Women’s Water Polo League was formed at an inaugural meeting at Gurnell, London in November 1987 and played its first season in spring 1988 with seven teams. Stretford, Potters Bar and Coventry in the first division and Sirens, Dunfermline, Merseyside and Sheffield in the second division. After ten seasons the league became an ASA competition with twenty teams, and this has increased year on year until in 2009 we have twenty eight teams playing across four divisions including teams from Scotland and Wales. After twenty one seasons we enter a new era, no longer an ASA competition, expanding our playing season to include a Spring Cup Competition and looking to welcome our first sponsor. | |
